Orlando Union Rescue Mission Progress & Transitions

Last year I was asked to spearhead pruning and organizing the Orlando Union Rescue Mission (http://www.ourm.org/) library @ 1521 W. Washington Street, Orlando, FL 32805. I thank God for a faithful team of volunteers and for new project leadership.

THANK YOU to all volunteers who have  worked on pruning, reorganizing, making the Orlando Union Rescue Mission Library more user friendly. 5/18: seated – Marsha Hanshew, Bonita Slaymaker, Janean Campanaro; standing - Lisa Laird Smith, Libby Addison; not pictured: Marilyn Young.  Thanks also to Deb Frank and Anne Tofalo for their past work on this project and for their willingness to continue.

We finished the basic sorting and pruning. Next comes completing color coding spines and fine tuning order within various genre areas.

ANNOUNCING: retired branch manager Janean Campanaro has agreed to become Library Coordinator overseeing finishing touches with volunteer team and periodic upkeep, Libby is Assistant OURM Library Coordinator.  I am transitioning out of leadership of this project now to focus more intently on preparations for Cameroon.

KUDOS to Libby who now does weekly story times with young children at OURM.

The library has been converted into a media center with the addition of a computer lab to support educational needs of residents.  Orlando Union Rescue Mission is extending their job training/services to others in neighborhood and community. It is now a licensed Microsoft Training Center, currently the only mission so licensed in the country.

It has been a blessing and privilege to be part of the action in helping OURM better serve our community ON MISSION WITH GOD.
